To support the design, build, development, and testing of robotic systems in accordance with cost, time, and budget, an engineer at the National Robotarium must use applied engineering rather than basic research. On assigned robotics and AI projects, you will collaborate with engineers from partner firms as well as other team members from the larger National Robotarium.

You will be expected to interact and explain robots, AI, and the National Robotarium to visitors, including members of the general public, students, and other engineers in the robotics business.

To support the creation of fresh and cutting-edge robotic systems, you will contribute your knowledge and area of competence in applied engineering.

Important Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the creation, construction, testing, and development of robotic systems for use internally at the National Robotarium and by partner firms.
  • Work on assigned engineering projects according to schedule, cost, and budget while identifying and developing solutions for risks. Support the senior engineer and collaborate with engineers from partner companies to see projects through to completion.
  • On a range of projects, provide engineering skills.
  • Use your knowledge to address all technical needs and project requirements for robotic systems and projects based on robotics and/or AI.
  • Responsible for one’s own and others’ health and safety while using equipment to support a specific goal.
  • To raise awareness and educate the public, describe and show the National Robotarium’s work to its patrons, officials, students, and other members of the public.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

  1. a first-degree education in engineering or computer science, or the equivalent in practical job experience
  2. Work experience in a setting comparable to the one described above
  3. capable of using the necessary IT packages
  4. experience in practical engineering with demonstrable relevance and a working knowledge of the pertinent theory
  5. Having a thorough understanding of the essential regulatory, legal, and governance applications and putting them into practice
  6. Excellent interpersonal, persuasion, and presenting abilities; adept at understanding and successfully communicating difficult issues
  7. Proven excellence in client service
